Figuring out Lake Simcoe Whitefish
The result? Well I was able to get out for a few hours one evening and although the marks were a bit slow - I was able to get on fish. This beautiful Whitefish smacked a bait that I had deadsticked 5 feet from the bottom. I wouldn't have done this type of presentation earlier and I'm glad I decided to change it up.
Top 5 Perch Ice Fishing Baits
Over the last few years, I've put together 5 of the lures/baits that have always performed for me, I'm sure they'll perform for you too!
Why DON'T you share your fishing spots?!
It's the entire reason WHY I started creating and sharing everything I was doing on #YouTube. It's why I share on any social media application.
How you can catch BIG Smallmouth in the fall on Lake Simcoe
How do you catch those BIG smallmouth everyone is catching on Lake Simcoe? That's the question and issue I had. Fall bass fishing is difficult for...
Hidden Holes
I let the line drop in fully slack. There was an "S" shape bend in the little bit that laid on top of the water. I closed the bail, staring at that "S" shape. The it pulled tight. I reeled up the little bit of slack and set the hook - immediate load up and drag. If not for the movement of the line to the side, I would have thought I was hung on the rock. There was no head shakes, just a tug of war. I could see him as I pulled him to the surface of the spot he was hiding - he looked big but sometimes the water plays tricks on your eyes.
Fishing Lake Couchiching – Adapting to a Changing Lake
The basic rule for occasional anglers to keep in mind is that under these conditions or simply during the slow mid-day bite, fish are not as active as earlier or later in the day so slower, soft plastic presentations in natural baitfish colors shine.
Fishing fake Leeches on Lake Simcoe
Setting up a drop shot is easy. Over the last few years I've learned a lot about the setup. I used to use the same hooks as my wacky rig (and they worked!) but since then I've learned that smaller hooks work the same and they're much less more noticable (which is a must here on Simcoe). For my setup, I use straight fluro, a full spool - but if you like the idea of braid with a Fluorocarbon leader, it still works. Just make your leader longer. Personally I like an 8lb Fluro and if I'm putting it on braid, I'll use the same 8lb braid to go with it.
Senkos - 3 rigs to catch more largemouth this summer
On days like these I've experienced Largemouth like to just hold up on something and kill daylight until it's cooler. I've found docks and weeds do well as a starting point. Both spots are perfect for Senko fishing and I've found three ways to rig them.
Ultra Clear Water and Sight Fishing Bass
Lake Simcoe isn't my best friend... sometimes I wonder if we're even friends at all! I can't count the amount of times she's left me fishless on bo...
This year I hate Pike
The lake didn't let me down, we were able to hook into about 6 pike, landing I think three of them. The larger of the three seemed to have some tail damage which leads me to believe those folks telling me about them still spawning may be true. The normal Black Fly Lures Spinner Bait and White Curly Tail Grub seemed to get them all.
Easy Early Spring Rainbow Trout From Shore
A few minutes after changing up to a bottom bouncing setup, I hooked up. The rest of the day was catching fish like that while fighting ice
